Decision Making Approach
The success of a company depends on its internal structure and its decision making process. A well structured internal system and decision making process will definitely provide a conducive working environment.
Ideally, there are 4 major steps which are followed to arrive at conclusive decisions. These steps are all vital and interdependent. Avoiding one step will result to inconclusive decision making subject to loop hopes and the result that may be destructive. One must consider the first steps set on the best way to make a decision. Ask yourself how you can make the best decision. It is crucial to note that a conclusive decision has to be affordable and cost conscious.
When faced with a problem, the number of decisions you have for that problem solving should be narrowed down. The decision must be critical, communicative and relevant.
Always have priorities. Check on the implementation and see if it’s viable and satisfying. Secondly develop a scorecard. The scorecard will help you measure the importance and viability of a decision. Usually qualitative and quantitative measures are done. The cost of the decision making actions can be outlined as a quantitative.
The satisfaction by the internal customers or staff can be viewed as qualitative decision making consideration factor. Check the alternatives. The alternatives are weighed against the favorable factors such as cost, time and satisfaction. A decision is not made until you act. Action means implementing the decision to arrive at the result.
How to make a decision
You must ask yourself this question. You have to implement an action plan which will give the best results. If your decision is cheap but will cause unrest to the staff then consider an alternative. Balance the satisfaction and the cost factors to arrive at the best results.
Cutting corners may cost you
Don’t change the action of the decision to arrive at a particular result. You may notice that implementing a staff uniform in your restaurant is expensive but will impress the customers. Thus you will have to go for that uniform which will mainly impress your clients but at the most affordable prices. Don’t always work on cheap. Remember cheap is expensive
